Who I Am Before ROA members vote for their next National President, I believe it is essential for members to know who is running to be the 84th National President of ROA. I am Peggy Chamberlain Wilmoth, a life member of ROA and the daughter of Lt. Col Grover Chamberlain, U.S. Air Force, who was a life member of ROA. I am mother to SFC Michael Metcalfe, a Life Member of ROA. Our family has served this nation since its founding, with PVT David Chamberlain serving in George Washington's Army. I am the first female in my family to proudly wear our nation's uniform. I served in the Army Reserve for 35 years, with a direct commission as a captain, Army Nurse Corps, and retired in 2017 as a major general. My last assignment was as the Deputy Surgeon General of the Army Reserve. I earned the Expert Field Medical Badge and was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal during my career. I am a nursing professor at UNC-Chapel Hill and previously taught at UNC Charlotte, the University of Delaware, the University of Kansas and Central Missouri State. I have been involved in several community organizations including service as a Guardian with Honor Flight of Cape Fear, NC, for the past 2 years. My grandfather was a founding member of the American Legion Post in Kenton, Ohio, and following in his footsteps, I am also a Life Member of the American Legion. ROA is the nation's only military organization exclusively focused on supporting the Reserve Components. ROA must have the best leadership as it builds on its successes and fulfills its founding purpose. I will dedicate my decades of leadership experience and deep understanding of organizational management to help ROA grow and succeed. I want to be your next National President and ask for your vote during our 2024 National Convention at the Minute Man Memorial Headquarters Building in Washington, DC. Thank you. My ROA Service |
